Installation
Star-Phor and Star-Phor-Input are compatible with GNU/Linux systems. To install them, you need to compile them on the target machine. Although it is possible to compile these two projects manually - by consulting their README files to ensure that the prerequisites are met, then repeating the process for each prerequisite - the simplest method is to use the provided shell scripts, designed for the star-build installer. The latter automates the download, compilation, and installation of Star-Phor and Star-Phor-Input, as well as many of their dependencies. However, some of the prerequisites are intended to be managed at the system level, so it is up to the user to ensure that their GNU/Linux system meets these prerequisites.
Pre-requisites
To build star-phor or star-phor-input with star-build, first make
sure your system has the following prerequisites:
- Internet connection
- POSIX shell
- POSIX make
- curl
- git
- mandoc
- pkg-config
- sha512sum
- GNU Compiler Collection in version 8.3 or higher
Install
Assuming that the aforementioned prerequisites are available, the
installed procedure is sum up to clone the star-build installer:
git clone git://git.meso-star.com/star-build.git
download the build scripts for star-Phor and star-phor-input:
url="https://www.edstar.cnrs.fr/starphor/home/downloads"
curl -f -O "${url}/star-phor_0.0.sh"
curl -f -O "${url}/star-phor-input_0.0.sh"
And finally, install star-phor using star-build and its build
script:
PATH=${PATH}:/absolute/path/to/downloaded/scripts \
make -C /path/to/star-build \
PREFIX=/install/directory/of/star-phor_0.0 \
BUILD=/absolute/path/to/downloaded/scripts/star-phor_0.0.sh
where PREFIX specifies the installation path for star-phor and
BUILD defines the installation script to run, in this case the
Star-Phor script.
Note that it is not necessary to install star-phor-input separately,
as it is a dependency of star-phor; star-build therefore ensures its
installation prior to star-phor.

man 1 sphin-lint
man 3 sphin
man 1 star-phor
